Brazilian aircraft charter marketplace Flapper has announced the acquisition of RBAC 135-certified operator Black Taxi Aéreo (Belo Horizonte Tancredo Neves). The all-cash deal includes the launch of a new fractional ownership programme, Jet Society, alongside the integration of Black Aviação's infrastructure and fleet, which is set to expand with additional aircraft, including a first Gulfstream Aerospace jet.
The acquisition was partially financed with funds from Flapper's BRL5.8 million reais (USD1.1 million) fundraising initiative announced in February and completed in July. The Jet Society fractional ownership will initially feature Black Aviação's existing fleet of two 25.6-year-old, eight-seat Beechjet 400As, operated under the company's charter certificate and available for air taxi operations.
Flapper plans to grow Black Aviação's RBAC 135-certified fleet to five aircraft by the end of 2025, adding a GIV-SP, owned by Flapper's majority shareholder and scheduled for induction in the third quarter, as well as a Cessna (single turboprop) 208B Caravan, and a King Air Beech (twin turboprop). All five aircraft will be available both for charter and under the new fractional ownership programme. Black Aviação also exclusively manages five additional aircraft.
Both companies are based in the state of Minas Gerais, with Black Aviação providing aircraft handling and maintaining two hangars totalling 6,000 square metres at Belo Horizonte Pampulha. Despite the integration, the two brands will remain separate, with Rafael Matos, Black Aviação's founder, assuming the role of head of aviation and aircraft management at Flapper.
