Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) has firmed its long-touted order for thirty-five B787-9s and fifteen B787-10s, and secured purchase rights for 25 more B787s directly from Boeing.

The company continues talks with Rolls-Royce and General Electric concerning the engine options for its upcoming B787s. The aircraft are slated for delivery between 2029 and 2034. They will join the airline's existing B787 fleet, which comprises twenty-four B787-9s, all powered by GEnx-1B74/75 engines. The airline also has an unfilled order for six more B787-9s, with others due from lessors.

Turkish Airlines also announced an intention to acquire 100 B737 MAX (in B737-8 and B737-10 variants) with 50 additional options, on the completion of negotiations with the engine OEM CFM International.

The new aircraft order is part of Turkish Airlines' broader fleet growth strategy. The airline is aiming for an 800-strong aircraft fleet by 2033, although chief financial officer Murat Şeker recently told ch-aviation that that the goal would likely be achieved a year or two later than originally anticipated.

Turkish Airlines' fleet comprises six A319-100s, seventeen A320-200s, ten A320-200Ns, sixty-eight A321-200s, sixty-eight A321-200NX, twelve A330-200s, ten A330-200Fs, thirty-seven A330-300s, thirty A350-900s, twenty-seven B737-8s, sixty-nine B737-800s, five B737-9s, fifteen B737-900ERs, eight B777-200Fs, thirty-six B777-300ERs, and twenty-four B787-9s.

Its subsidiary AJet (Türkiye) operates five A320-200s, eleven A320-200Ns, four A321-200NX, four B737-8s, and fifteen B737-800s.
