Nok Air (DD, Bangkok Don Mueang) submitted "clarification documents" to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) on September 3, responding to the regulator's recent order restricting it to domestic operations due to safety issues.
The airline said the filing addresses all points raised by CAAT and "comprehensively covers flight operations, aircraft maintenance, personnel, as well as the continuous improvement measures" to ensure compliance with international safety standards.
CAAT has said restrictions could be lifted if the airline demonstrates compliance, with a decision expected after the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) completes its audit of Thailand on September 8.
ch-aviation data shows the launch of services from Bangkok Don Mueang to Nanjing, Nanning, and Zhengzhou has been postponed indefinitely.
The airline said it had never experienced a fatal accident in its 21-year history and attributed recent pilot resignations to competition from other Thai carriers. ch-aviation data records five accidents and incidents affecting Nok Air's aircraft since 2017, but none of had any casualties. The LCC operates fourteen B737-800s and remains under court-supervised business rehabilitation.
