Opul Jets UK Ltd has secured a UK air operator’s certificate (AOC) through the acquisition of Zenith Aviation (United Kingdom) (London Biggin Hill), the company announced in a press release. Besides the AOC, Opul Jets is taking over Zenith’s managed fleet of UK-registered aircraft and a fully accredited CAA Part 145 maintenance facility.
“Holding a UK AOC is a vital asset in the current regulatory environment, particularly post-Brexit. It underscores Opul’s ability to operate UK-originating and intra-European charter flights with complete compliance,” Opul Jets said.
The move comes after the British company, thus far without its own AOC, said it was looking to buy a European Union AOC holder to gain unrestricted access to the market. Opul Jets operates primarily out of London Biggin Hill, Isle of Man, Dubai World Central, and Mumbai International and has an FBO on the Isle of Man. According to its website, its aircraft are on the AOCs of SaxonAir Charter and Av8jet.
Days before acquiring Zenith Aviation, Opul Jets announced its acquisition of business aircraft management and sales group Wallcourt Aviation, with the idea of expanding its offering with the addition of the Wallcourt Aviation fleet.
Opul Jets will integrate both Zenith Aviation’s and Wallcourt Aviation’s teams into its group.
ch-aviation fleets data shows that Zenith Aviation operates one Learjet 45 and two Learjet 75s. Wallcourt Aviation does not have its own AOC, but its website states that its fleet comprises Learjet 45s and Citation Jet 1s and that it owns aircraft, although the UK aircraft register does not show any units owned by the company under its name.
Opul Jet’s website lists its fleet as a Learjet 40 on the SaxonAir Charter AOC and shows an image of G-UXLA (msn 45-2018), which also shows up on the Wallcourt Aviation website. Opul Jet also markets a Global Express, which is placed on the Av8jet AOC in Malta. The only Global Express in Av8jet’s fleet is 9H-NSV (msn 9094), according to ch-aviation fleets data.
ch-aviation has requested a comment from Opul Jets on its fleet plans.
