Allegiant Air (G4, Las Vegas Harry Reid) has announced in a press release that it will open a new base at Nashville International airport on February 13, 2020. The carrier will initially deploy two A320 Family jets to the new base.
"As a premier destination for visitors from all over the world, and a growing, diverse city attracting new residents, Nashville hits all the right notes for an Allegiant base. Having locally-based aircraft and crews will give us a wide range of options for new service, meaning more opportunities for affordable and convenient nonstop flights," Vice-President (Government Affairs) Keith Hansen said.
Nashville will become Allegiant Air's nineteenth base. The LCC expects to hire 66 local staff and plans to invest USD50 million in the facility.
Allegiant Air has been serving Nashville since 2018. According to the ch-aviation capacities module, it currently offers 18 weekly scheduled departures to nine destinations. It has a 1.4% market share by capacity at the Tennessean gateway.
Currently, no major scheduled carrier has a crew base at Nashville airport. The only operators basing their crews out of this airport are Contour Aviation (LF, Smyrna) and Jet Linx Aviation (JL, Omaha Eppley).
