Surf Air (URF, Santa Monica) former CEO, Wade Eyerly, has unveiled plans to launch his own All-You-Can-Fly membership carrier on the US East Coast. Beginning in June, Beacon (Boston) will offer scheduled flights between Boston and White Plains in New York initially before expanding to holiday destinations such as Nantucket and the Hamptons during the summer.
Like Surf Air, Beacon will use PC-12s, as well as Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 350s, though unlike Surf Air which owns its fleet, it will partner with individual Part 135 operators with FAA interstate commuter authorization who own their aircraft.
The All-You-Can-Fly market niche has attracted numerous entrants since Surf Air's successful launch in 2012 including Texas-based RISE (United States of America) (Dallas Love Field) and New York-based Wheels Up (WUP, Teterboro), which ordered 105 King Air 350is valued in excess of USD1.4 billion from Beechcraft (Wichita Beech Factory) in 2013.
