Kenya's Buffair Services (BUF, Nairobi Wilson) expects to take delivery of its first freighter, an ATR42-320(F) from Zimex Aviation (XM, Zurich), being sub-leased by Renegade Air (RNG, Nairobi Wilson), according to ch-aviation research.
A Renegade Air spokeswoman confirmed the plan is to sub-lease the aircraft, msn 378, currently registered as HB-AMC, to Buffair Services, but that the deal has not yet been finalised.
According to ADS-B data, HB-AMC left its base at Stockholm Arlanda in Sweden on September 5 and was ferried via Sofia and Jeddah International to arrive at Nairobi Wilson on September 7, 2025. It was subsequently deregistered from Switzerland on September 12, but its new registration is not known.
The 31.3-year-old converted freighter was first delivered to Air Dolomiti (EN, Verona) in 1994 and previously flew with avianca Honduras (ISV, La Ceiba) as 2-FLYE until 2016 before joining the Zimex Aviation fleet in 2019, ch-aviation data reveals. It is equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW100 engines.
Buffair Services and Zimex Aviation were not available for comment.
The Nairobi Wilson-based company currently operates two Fokker 50s, 5Y-WFB (msn 20243) and 5Y-WFD (msn 20214), according to ch-aviation research.
The airline operates scheduled and charter passenger flights in Kenya, East and Central Africa, and the Middle East, according to the company's website.
