PAL Aerospace (SPR, St. John's) has entered into a ten-year charter contract with Medavie Health NL Inc. to deliver fixed-wing air ambulance operations for Newfoundland and Labrador under the province’s Integrated Emergency Health Services programme.
The charter specialist will base four Beechcraft King Air 350 aircraft in St. John's and Goose Bay with “harmonised medical layouts and proven short-field performance,” LifePort systems, large cargo doors, and consistent medical equipment stowage.
The contract between the government of Newfoundland and Labrador and Medavie Health NL is valued at CAD561.7 million Canadian dollars (USD406 million) and is valid until March 31, 2035. Subsidiary Air Borealis will also provide two dedicated Twin Otter aircraft configured for scheduled evacuations (or schedevac) and one Twin Otter configured for medevac, which are available to support daily scheduled medical flights through Monday to Friday.
PAL Aerospace’s fleet comprises one Cessna Citation S550, one Gulfstream G280, one Bombardier Aerospace Challenger 600/601/604, five DHC-8-100s, one DHC-8-300, nine Beechcraft King Air 200s, three King Air 300s, and two Beech 1900Ds.
Parent PAL Airlines (Canada)'s fleet includes two DHC-8-100s, three DHC-8-300s, and fifteen DHC-8-Q400s. Air Borealis operates eleven DHC-6-300s.
