Uganda Airlines (UR, Entebbe) plans to invest about USD50 million in building hangars and workshops to conduct full base maintenance services for the existing and future fleet of the national carrier and eventually provide third-party maintenance. The aim is to reduce reliance on foreign facilities for maintenance, the cost of which currently takes up nearly 20% of its budget. Having gained Uganda Civil Aviation Authority approval in March 2024, the airline's Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) recently conducted its first in-house engine change, on CRJ900LR 5X-KNP (msn 15474). The AMO currently provides line maintenance services for the airline’s CRJ900 fleet.
