Air Incheon (Seoul Incheon) has announced a rebranding as AirZeta following the completion of the acquisition of Asiana Airlines' freighter fleet on August 1, 2025.
The latter concluded its in-house dedicated freighter operations on July 31, 2025, following the arrival of the last wave of flights from the United States. AirZeta began taking over the aircraft and routes on August 1, ending a 31-year period of dedicated freighter operations by the airline.
ch-aviation analysis of Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows that on August 1, nine of 11 dedicated freighters previously operated by Asiana were already flying under AirZeta's 'KJ' code, namely three of four B747-400(BDSF)s, five of six B747-400FSCDs, and the only B767-300F. The other aircraft remain parked at Seoul Incheon pending the transfer.
The acquisition of Asiana's cargo business by AirZeta was part of the remedial measures ordered as a condition for the Korean Air/Asiana Airlines merger. Korean Air continues to operate an in-house freighter fleet comprising four B747-400ERFs, seven B747-8Fs, and twelve B777-200Fs.
AirZeta paid KRW470 billion won (USD335 million) for Asiana's cargo business, funding the acquisition from a new capital raise totalling KRW820 billion (USD590 million), which proceeded despite objections from the former owner and still-second-largest shareholder, Park Yong-kwang. Before the completion of the deal, AirZeta's own freighter fleet comprised four B737-800(SF)s and one B747-400(BDSF).
As a result of the deal, AirZeta swelled the size of its workforce from around 200 to around 1,000 employees, adding 800 ex-Asiana Airlines staff members.
