Silver Airways (3M, Fort Lauderdale International) has announced it halted all operations as of June 11, 2025, after the holding company that acquired its assets as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganisation decided to discontinue flights.
“We regret to inform you that we are ceasing operations as of today, June 11, 2025. In an attempt to restructure in bankruptcy, Silver entered into a transaction to sell its assets to another airline holding company, which, unfortunately, has determined not to continue Silver’s flight operations in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean,” the airline explained in a statement.
Despite objections from several parties, Silver Airways reached an agreement with Wexford Capital (via its affiliates KIA II LLC, which provided the debtor-in-possession financing, and Argentum Acquisition Co. LLC, which was the purchaser) to acquire the assets of the carrier.
According to a court filing on June 11, Argentum was the sole bidder, and despite an earlier plan to also acquire Seaborne Airlines, the final transaction only covered Silver Airways.
The Puerto Rican subsidiary of Silver Airways continued operating until June 11, according to ADS-B data, which shows C-GPOQ (msn 464), Seaborne’s only aircraft, flying between St. Thomas Cyril E. King and St. Thomas SPB. However, it does not sell tickets for any flights on June 12 or beyond. ch-aviation has reached out to Silver Airways for comment.
At the time of its collapse, Silver Airways' fleet comprised three ATR42-600s and five ATR72-600s. They were leased from Azorra (three of each type) and Jetstream Aviation Capital (two ATR72-600s, although one was subleased via Sterling Airways under a recent Chapter 11 agreement). The company had bases in Fort Lauderdale, Orlando International, San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin, and Tampa International and served 16 destinations across the Caribbean (six in the United States, including one in Puerto Rico; two in the US Virgin Islands; five in the Bahamas; and one each in the British Virgin Islands, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Sint Maarten).
