t'way Air (TW, Daegu) will begin scheduled flights between Seoul Incheon and Vancouver International on July 12. The 4x weekly roundtrips will be operated by an A330-300 and will see t'way become the only low-cost carrier flying between South Korea and Canada. The service is also its first North American route.

Originally a small domestic operator, t'way Air has expanded its footprint significantly in recent years. According to the ch-aviation PRO airlines module, it now flies to 42 airports in 21 countries, including five European countries.

Korean Air (KE, Seoul Incheon) has supported t'way's expansion into Europe by providing aircraft, crews, and ground support as part of a suite of measures to appease the European Commission in exchange for approval of its merger with Asiana Airlines. However, the Vancouver flights are a standalone commercial venture.

Seoul-Vancouver route is already served by daily Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) and Korean Air flights. Both airlines use B787s on the route. The t'way flights will add an additional 2,776 seats per week, or 41,640 seats over the initial filing period, to the route.
