The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has reopened all 32 airports in northern and northwestern India that had previously been closed due to the conflict with Pakistan after the two countries agreed to a ceasefire.

The airports were closed on May 7 after tensions in Kashmir escalated. They were due to be closed until May 15, but once the ceasefire was signed the AAI allowed the resumption of flight operations on the morning of May 12.

The busiest of the 32 airports affected by the closure were Amritsar, Srinagar, and Chandigarh.

Pakistan did not close any airports, although it had implemented airspace restrictions in and near the part of Kashmir under its control after the conflict began. On the morning of May 10, it briefly closed airspace over the entire country, but this restriction only lasted a few hours. Later, on the same day, as the ceasefire was negotiated, Islamabad reopened its airspace fully.

Despite the reopening of airspace, both India and Pakistan continue to ban aircraft operated by airlines from the other country.
