The federal government of Nigeria reopened Enugu Airport on April 28, 2025, following the early completion of emergency runway repairs. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had shut the airport on April 22 due to a critical asphalt rupture, initially planning to reopen it by May 6. The closure disrupted operations of at least four airlines, Air Peace, Ibom Air, United Nigeria Airlines, and Ethiopian Airlines. Flights were diverted, impacting both domestic and international services, including connections to Lagos, Abuja, and Addis Ababa International.
