Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has signed a multi-aircraft A330P2F conversion agreement with UAE-based private equity firm Confity Capital Partners. The joint venture will introduce EFW's converted widebodies to the Indian market, with Jet Freight Logistics signing on as the joint venture's launch customer.

The A330P2F conversions for Confity will start at the end of 2025 at EFW’s facility in Dresden and follow EFW's introduction of the A321P2F and A320P2F freighters to India in 2022. Jet Freight Logistics will become the first Indian operator of widebody Airbus P2Fs. The freight forwarder presently relies on other operators to provide aircraft but aims to eventually have its in-house airline.

According to an EFW spokesperson, the joint venture covers 10 aircraft conversions, with the inductions taking just over 12 months.

“This collaboration is a strategic step forward in our mission to build future-ready cargo infrastructure, driven by demand for efficient widebody freighter capacity across emerging and established markets," said Confity managing partner Sia Ashok. "The A330 platform aligns perfectly with our investment thesis, combining operational versatility with long-term asset value."

Among other things, Confity invests in airport infrastructure, aircraft conversions, aircraft leasing, and MRO facilities.

“Driven by e-commerce, domestic consumption, rising exports and infrastructure improvements, India's air cargo market is expected to grow rapidly and hit record volumes in the years to come," said EFW's marketing and sales SVP Lee London. "Our P2F programs can serve as a strong enabler in this trajectory."

Elbe Flugzeugwerke's A330 P2F scheme offers two aircraft conversions, the A330-200(P2F) and A330-300(P2F). The -200 can carry a 60 tonne gross payload and the -300 offers a gross payload of up to 62 tonnes. EFW says the aircraft offer up to 23% more cargo volume than other same-class freighters.aking
