Kangala Air Express (KAE, Ouagadougou) appears to have suspended scheduled operations with its two ATR72-500s grounded due to operational difficulties, reports the African aviation site NewsAero.

XT-AMI (msn 722) was last tracked via ADS-B data to have landed at Ouagadougou more than a year ago, on March 13, 2024, while XT-FAT (msn 708) was not trackable, according to ch-aviation research. The booking engine for Kangala Air Express's scheduled flights is not functional on its website.

The carrier began thrice-weekly in-house scheduled flights on February 8, 2024, with XT-AMI between Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso, alternating between operating Kangala Air Express's route under its own code and ACMI flights on behalf of Air Burkina (2J, Ouagadougou).

Ambitions to serve the Sahel region saw route expansions to Mali with flights between Bobo Dioulasso and Bamako on April 30, followed by services between Bamako and Kayes on May 14 in collaboration with Afrikayes, a local travel agency. On December 13, it added 2x weekly flights on the Bamako-Gao-Niamey (Niger) route.

Focus on business aviation

For now, Kangala Air Express appears to be focusing on business aviation charters. According to the ch-aviation fleets module, the company took delivery on February 14, 2025, of one 30.8-year-old GIV-SP, XT-ABD (msn 1237). The aircraft was last tracked on March 11, landing at Jos, Nigeria.

Kangala Air Express also operates one GIV, XT-KMA (msn 1021).
