Amazon.com will end its operations at Riverside March Arb, CA, just six years after it opened a sorting facility at the military and cargo airport, the company confirmed to ch-aviation.
The e-commerce firm said the employees will be offered jobs at other nearby facilities in California.
According to Flightradar24 ADS-B data, the airport sees very limited large civilian aircraft operations every day, with the majority of operations being conducted by cargo airlines. ch-aviation analysis of the data shows that Amazon operates three flights daily to the airport, connecting it with Houston Intercontinental, Nashville International, and Kansas City International. All three routes are operated with aircraft chartered from Atlas Air, which deploys both narrow- and widebody freighters on these services.
Amazon also charters capacity from 21 Air, ABX Air, ASL Airlines Ireland, ATI - Air Transport International, Cargojet Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, Quikjet Airlines, and Sun Country Airlines, as per the ch-aviation fleets module.
