Binter Canarias (NT, Gran Canaria) has placed a firm order for four ATR72-600s powered by new-generation Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127XT-M engines with a further five options for such aircraft.
The airline intends to use the aircraft to replace four of its older ATR72-600s powered by previous-generation PW127M engines. It is the first-ever order placed by any airline to replace -600s with units of the same type but with newer engines.
The commitment was signed in late December 2024 but only announced during the ATR - Avions de Transport Régional annual press conference in mid-February 2025.
Binter Canarias currently operates twenty-six ATR72-600s, all powered by PW127M engines. These are split between two subsidiary technical AOCs, 14 operated by Canair and 12 by Naysa.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that twenty ATR72-600s powered by PW127XT-M engines are currently in service. The largest operator of such aircraft is Air Corsica with seven units in its fleet.
