SkyUp MT (U5, Malta International) is set to bolster its capacity over the Winter 2024 and Summer 2025 seasons by wet-leasing in two A321-200s, enabling it to further expand its operations from its Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh, and Zanzibar bases. The carrier also plans to launch a European base in Summer 2025 where these aircraft will also be deployed.

The wet-lease agreement is with Fly2Sky (F6, Sofia), with which SkyUp MT already has a three-year contract for two A320-200s.

The A321s, LZ-FSH (msn 1932) and LZ-FSI (msn 1960), will serve SkyUp MT starting this winter until October 31, 2025. Both aircraft, currently parked at Belgrade Nikola Tesla, are configured in a single-class layout with seating for 212 passengers. At 21.7 years old, these units were recently added to Fly2Sky's fleet. SkyUp MT has confirmed to ch-aviation that the A321s will be based at Sharm el Sheikh during the winter season.

The A320s, LZ-FSB (msn 3055) and LZ-FSD (msn 3461), averaging 17 years of age and configured for 180 passengers in economy, will continue an agreement that began this summer for the next three years.

The A320s are already operating under SkyUp MT's 'U5' code from its Egyptian bases at Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh, serving European destinations including Bucharest Henri Coanda, Cluj-Napoca, Gdansk, Iasi, Katowice Pyrzowice, Poznan Lawica, Riga, Tallinn Lennart Meri, Vilnius, Warsaw Chopin, Wroclaw, and Yerevan. Future plans for these aircraft, alongside the A321s, include operations from the Zanzibar base and the new, unnamed European base set to open in time for next summer.

SkyUp MT’s fleet currently comprises three in-house B737-800s, with one wet-leased to Arkia Israeli Airlines and another to FlyOne. In addition to the wet-leased Airbus aircraft from Fly2Sky, its operations are supported by three wet-leased Boeing units - one B737-800 from Mavi Gök Airlines, and one B737-700 and one B737-800 from its sister carrier, SkyUp Airlines.

Fly2Sky’s fleet consists of eight A320-200s and two A321-200s. In addition to the aircraft wet-leased to SkyUp MT, Fly2Sky is currently wet-leasing one A320 to Arkia Israeli Airlines, one to United Nigeria Airlines, and two to World Atlantic Airlines.

SkyUp MT told ch-aviation that it is in the planning phase for its Summer 2025 European operations, with specific bases, destinations, and aircraft allocations to be announced once details are finalised.
