t'way Air (TW, Daegu) appears to have secured B777-300ERs from Korean Air (KE, Seoul Incheon) and has filed a 2025 northern summer schedule using the type on the Seoul-Paris CDG and Seoul-Rome Fiumicino routes from late April, according to Routes Online.
The schedules data indicates that t'way will operate the B777-300ER thrice weekly to France between April 25 and October 24 and thrice weekly to Italy between April 26 and October 25. The Rome flights will operate daily over the period, with Korean Air-supplied A330-200s covering the flights on the remaining four days of the week. The A330s will also continue to operate all flights between Seoul and both Frankfurt International and Barcelona El Prat.
ch-aviation recently reported that t'way wanted to secure the B777s but was receiving some pushback from Korean. t'way's European expansion follows Korean Air negotiating a deal with the European Union for approval for its merger with Asiana Airlines (OZ, Seoul Incheon). In return for approval, Korean is facilitating the entrance of t'way on four routes to Europe.
However, Seoul's Money Today news site reports that the seat map generated by the budget carrier's booking engine does not match the seat layouts on any Korean Air B777-300ERs. Searches of seat map databases confirm this. Korean Air declined to comment on any impending lease arrangements with t'way Air. The news outlet suggests possible suppliers with similarly configured aircraft include Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) and Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International). ch-aviation has contacted both for comment.
