Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG, Dhaka) has issued a request for proposals (RfP) to dry lease two B737-800s for 72 months from early 2025. The documentation indicates the state-owned carrier is looking for dual-cabin CFM International CFM56-7B-powered aircraft with winglets that are no older than 15 years and can be delivered in Biman livery.
The RfP says the airline would like the first aircraft delivered by February 1, 2025, and the second by April 1, 2025. Biman would prefer both aircraft came from the same lessor but say they will consider offers to provide one aircraft if that aircraft is suitable.
Dhaka's Financial Express reports the additional aircraft are required to operate pilgrimage flights, with the current fleet operating at near full capacity. Plans to acquire ten more aircraft have been jettisoned following a change of government.
Among the requirements specified in the RfP, C-checks must be performed immediately before delivery, D-checks or their equivalent must not fall due within the first 24 months of the lease period. Landing gear overhauls should also not fall due within the first 24 months of the lease period.
Additionally, engine HPC blades, HPC vane sectors, and HPT rotor blades are not to be affected by CFM SB 72-0636 R09; engine HPT blades are not to be affected by CFM SB 72-1087 R00; LPT stage one nozzle segments are not affected by CFM SB 72-0928 R01; fan blade CSN must not exceed 30,000 cycles per CFM SB 72-1050 criteria; and in case of engine health monitoring, all engine parameters must remain within limits without any degraded trends.
All wheels and brakes shall have at least 50% of their useful life remaining, and all life-limited parts for both engines and auxiliary power units must have 7,000 flight cycles remaining at the time of aircraft delivery.
Cabin requirements include a 12J + 150Y layout, full galley facilities and equipment capable of providing two full hot meals, and either in-seat or drop-down IFE.
The RfP is open until 1000L (0400Z) on October 23, 2024. Per the terms of the RfP, Biman will accept both electronic and hard copies.
