K-Mile Asia (8K, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) is venturing into widebody freighter operations, having acquired the first of two B767-300ER(BCF)s it expects to receive this year. The first aircraft, HS-KSA (msn 33421) was photographed at Guangzhou earlier this month in K-Mile livery.
Cargo Facts reports that SF Airlines (O3, Shenzhen) has leased the aircraft to K-Mile and will also provide the second. According to ch-aviation fleets data, the Chinese cargo carrier operates 23 of the type among a larger fleet of 87 aircraft. K-Mile, which mostly flies for DHL Express, expects to put HS-KSA into revenue service by the end of October. When HS-KSA begins operating for K-Mile, it will be the only active widebody freighter on the Thai aircraft register.
K-Mile managing director this week told ch-aviation the technical acceptance of the first B767 is underway and the second B767 will get handed over next month. For commercial reasons, he was unable to disclose further details.
To date, K-Mile has stuck to narrowbody operations. Its current fleet of five aircraft includes one B737-400(BDSF), two B737-400(SF)s, and two B737-800(BCF)s. In 2022, Sasunee told ch-aviation that he does not go looking for new aircraft unless he has a customer locked in for it. He also said he would only induct non-B737 types if a customer specifically required it, noting that the airline would need get the approvals and certify and train the crews.
