The Venezuelan government has barred all flights to and from Peru from July 31 to August 31, 2024, LATAM Airlines Group announced.
Peru is the third country to have its air connectivity with Venezuela suspended as a diplomatic retaliation after Lima refused to recognise the result of Venezuela's presidential election, which saw Nicolás Maduro controversially win another six-year term.
Venezuela has also closed its airspace to Panama and the Dominican Republic, impacting the operations of Copa Airlines, SKYhigh Dominicana, Venezolana, Rutaca Airlines, Laser Airlines, Avior Airlines, and Turpial Airlines.
LATAM Airlines Perú was the only carrier connecting Peru with Venezuela, flying twice daily from Lima to Caracas Simón Bolivar, the ch-aviation schedules module shows.
“Given this situation, beyond our control, and in order to provide the greatest possible protection to our passengers, changes and/or refunds will be offered without any additional cost," LATAM said in a statement.
