The US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has added an Il-76TD operated by Iran's Pouya Air Lines (PYA, Tehran Mehrabad) to its list of sanctioned aircraft.
Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows that EP-PUS (msn 1023409321) has operated multiple flights between Tehran Mehrabad and Moscow Vnukovo in recent months.
The US alleges that Pouya Air Lines is the fourth iteration of Qeshm Airlines, which was originally sanctioned back in 2000. The carrier then rebranded as Parsair (2006) in 2006 and as Yas Air in 2008. Yas Air was sanctioned in 2012 for "acting for or on behalf of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps-Quds Force for transporting illicit cargo, including weapons, to Iran’s clients in the Levant". In 2014, the OFAC extended the sanctions to Pouya Air Lines, alleging it was the same entity.
The ch-aviation fleets history module shows that EP-PUS was indeed operated by Qeshm Airlines, Parsair, and Yas Air, before transferring to Pouya Air Lines in 2014.
Pouya Air Lines also operates one more Il-76TD, five E145s, and two An-74s. Currently, the other Il-76TD and the two An-74s are also sanctioned, but the Embraer regional jets are not.
