Uniworld Air Cargo (U7, Panamá City Tocumen International) is planning to transition to B737 Classic freighters starting this year, having recently restarted in-house operations with a newly-acquired B727-200(F), Cargo Facts has reported.
The Panamanian cargo specialist was dormant between September 2022 and May 2023, as its then only B727-200(F), HP-1937UCG (msn 21345), was grounded at San Bernardino for maintenance. The airline inducted HP-1939UCG (msn 22552) on May 24, 2023, and has since been using it mainly for flights between Panamá City Tocumen International and various destinations in Venezuela. The airline also operates ad-hoc charters to other regional destinations in South and Central America.
The B737 transition is aimed not just at renewing Uniworld's fleet, but also at growth.
Management was not immediately available for added comment.
