Fly Lili (FL, Sibiu) conducted preparation flights between Sibiu and Bucharest Baneasa on April 19 with one of its two A320-200s, YR-LIA (msn 2422), before the aircraft flew to Antalya and Dalaman in Turkey on April 20, ADS B-data reveals.
According to the Romanian news site BoardingPass, the startup plans to formally launch charter flights on April 28, 2023. It has been advertising for experienced A320 cabin crew on its social media pages. The aircraft conducted flights between the Turkish cities on April 23 before returning to Bucharest, ADS B data showed.
As reported the airline has already secured two A320-200s on long-term dry-lease from Carlyle Aviation Partners. The 180-seater YR-LIA formerly flew with Air Busan (BX, Busan) as EI-HJA.
The second A320-200, N359CL (msn 2359), is an 18.1-year-old jet formerly operated by Brazil's ITA Transportes Aéreos (São Paulo Guarulhos) and is currently still stored at Tucson International, US, according to ADS B-data. It is to be registered as YR-LIB in Romania.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Flylili has a third A320-200, YR-LIL (msn 424), on an operating lease from Sky One, stored at Varna. The airline obtained its air operator's certificate (AOC) with that aircraft in October 2021.
Liliair first announced plans to launch scheduled operations out of secondary Romanian cities in 2022 but this never materialised despite obtaining its AOC.
ch-aviation has reached out to Liliair for comment.
